Syariah: Jurnal Hukum dan Pemikiran aims to provide a rigorous international forum for the production, evaluation, and dissemination of original scholarship in Islamic law and contemporary legal studies.
The journal has the following objectives:
- to publish high-quality and original research that advances Islamic legal scholarship;
- to strengthen dialogue between classical Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary legal, social, economic, technological, environmental, and political developments;
- to promote theoretically informed and methodologically rigorous legal research;
- to encourage comparative studies connecting Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic legal experiences with developments in other jurisdictions;
- to expand scholarly conversations between Islamic jurisprudence, positive law, international law, socio-legal studies, and interdisciplinary legal research;
- to support evidence-based legal reform, judicial development, public policy, justice, and institutional governance;
- to provide an inclusive scholarly platform for researchers from diverse institutions, countries, intellectual traditions, and disciplinary backgrounds;
- to strengthen research transparency, publication ethics, open science, responsible research practices, and the reproducibility or verifiability of scholarly findings where applicable;
- to enhance the international visibility and impact of Indonesian and Southeast Asian scholarship in Islamic law; and
- to contribute to the development of an internationally connected community of scholars working on Islamic law and contemporary legal challenges.
Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance to the journal's scope, and contribution to knowledge rather than nationality, institutional affiliation, seniority, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics.
